I think I have issues

Ever since a young age, I have been a clean human being (in the sense of cleaning my room and what not). I'm not OCD clean, just clean. It is a quality that I am really glad I inherited from my mom.

The part of my cleanliness that may be a little over the top (you tell me) is that I like to get rid of things constantly. Growing up I had drawers in my room where I would keep all of my treasures. About every 2 weeks I would go through it all and give away what I didn't want to my sisters. I'm pretty sure my sisters looked forward to the days that I gave my little doodads away to them. Although, I would always seem to replenish the amount of things I had in my drawers at some point.

When I first buy something I truly cherish it and think it is so cool (like a favorite outfit or something). But after time, it goes out of style or I don't use it anymore. When this time comes, I have absolutely no problem getting rid of it. Maybe some of you can relate, maybe not...

I think this might be an issue because I perform this ritual biweekly, if not weekly. I will get rid of EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. This might become a problem when I start thinking about getting rid of my husband's possessions... I can not stand having things that I don't like anymore, or never liked in the first place! I love DI because it is the destination of many of these items. Is this normal? Even if it's not normal, is it necessarily a bad thing to not hold on to things? Some people probably think, "What a non-sentimental person she is." I am a sentimental person, but not when it comes to objects. I have memories and that's good enough for me.

Read this article from Bottom Line about uncluttering. Sounds kind of like me huh? Maybe I could be a professional organizer for people... It looks like they make quite a bit of money, $40-$250 an hour!

ah yes,
I had a little doll I had made out of parafin wax, a flesh-colored crayon, and some sewing thread for hair....wish I'd kept it....some items connect us with our past or certain people....no it wasn't a voodoo doll of mrs. henderson, my eighth grade english teacher.
love,
mom

I'm ruthless too.

Garrett has started asking for approval of my donation bins because I tend to throw stuff out that he wants to keep. Oops...

Well Hils, I gotta admit that I benefited from your cleaning sprees, I walked away with plenty of stuff, Including a burton jacket that I still wear everytime I go snowboarding. Thanks for being a "FREAK" :)

I think you got the "throw away" gene from your grandpa Mel. I like to keep things.
