Spring break in Portland and Seattle

Spring break is glorious. I'm so happy that Utah State supports such a grand event. It's very nice to have a break to recharge before the final push in school.

Dennen and I were really excited because we were going to see our friends, the Banburys, in Pennsylvania. After trying to get on multiple standby flights and failing we looked to see what flight we could get on. Portland was our winner. We knew it wouldn't be half as cool as visiting our buddies, but we wanted to go somewhere.

Portland is a pretty cool city. We were able to get everywhere we wanted by using their public transit trains/buses. I love the satisfaction that one gets by not having to rely on a car. Most cities don't support this and I'm glad we picked a city that does.

Some of the things we did were: ate at Voodoo Doughnuts, visited OHSU (Dennen is thinking about going to PA school there), watched people keep Portland weird (there are definitely some interesting folk there), hiked around one of their state parks, and ate some darn good food.

After our stay in Portland we headed to Seattle on an Amtrack train so I could meet my family for the "Laird Lady Retreat". Dennen slept at our hotel for the night and left the next day to catch a flight so he could go biking with his buddies in St. George.

Seattle was awesome and we had great weather. Some of the things we did were: Pike Place Market, ate, the aquarium, ate, the Space Needle, ate, the zoo, ate, the experience music project, ate, the science center, and more.

All in all Spring break was great!

I grew up just outside seattle. It's a fabulous place! I'm jealous that you went to voodoo donuts! That's a dream of ours!
