24 hours later...

We're home! I had to take Finn to the ER last night because he was very dehydrated. He started barfing at around 9 am yesterday and kept it comin' so I took him to see his doc at 4:30 pm. Pretty much his doc said that with Finn's weight as it is, I could either admit him right then and there (this was after he puked on the doc), or go home and try oral re-hydration with some Pedialite. I thought I'd give it a go and try to re-hydrate him on my own (Dennen was at work at this time).

We made it until around 8 pm and then I got pretty scared. He looked like a little skeleton and he wasn't being very responsive at all (just floppy and eyes rolling back in his head). We got to the ER and at first they were worried that he might be septic (serious scary stuff), but after numerous blood and urine samples said that he had a viral infection in his gut and started him on some antibiotics and a saline IV to get him re-hydrated.

Dennen made it to the hospital when he got off work to relieve some of the stress, and boy he did. Doesn't it seem like most males are the level headed ones and can stay calm, whereas females are usually bawling their faces off?? Or is it just me? We took shifts during the night giving him little sips of Pedialite. I probably got one hour of sleep and Dennen probably got two (I thought he deserved more because he had work the next morning at 6 am).

Long story short, we just walked in the door and it's about 7:30 pm. Whew, what a night!! Glad that's over.

Now for some pictures. "What?!" You say, "pictures??" Yeah, I know, who takes pictures of their sick kid. I couldn't believe how much skinnier he got with being dehydrated so I had to take some pictures. He went from 14.2 lbs, to about 13.5 lbs when I brought him to the ER.

Right when he was admitted to the ER (note the rolled back eyes).

Still skinny, but has the IV in his head.

Sportin' dad's glasses while he gets plumped up with some fluid.

Yay, all better in his freaky baby cage!

Oh my gosh. That first picture with his rolled back eyes made me want to cry. You guys have sure been through a lot with that little guy. I'm so sorry you all had to experience that. Hopefully Finn is getting all of these scary things out of the way and then when he gets older nothing will ever happen! :) Glad he's back home...what a little trooper to be smiling and happy already.

Oh Hillary I got so scared for you and Finn when I read this. I sure hope he's on the mend and puts some serious meat on his sweet little body. You're such a good mom to do all you can to help your little one. Hope you're able to get some sleep. You're all in our prayers.

Poor Finn. I'm so sorry you guys had to go through that. Things like that are definitely harder on the moms than anyone else. I hope you all get some rest and get feeling better.
