Our 4th of July

The 4th of July has to be one of my favorite holidays! This year did not disappoint either. First, some of the fam road their bikes up to Big Springs for our annual 4th of July breakfast. My mom made this french toast that was embedded with sugary and buttery goodness, mmmm. We also enjoyed riding our bikes down the canyon, even though there were hoards of people. We even witnessed a guy endo after his whole family slammed on their brakes. He wasn't quite quick enough and flew over his handle bars. Oops.

Family picture up at Big Springs.

My mom, Rachel, myself, and Dennen, ready to head up to Big Springs.

Emma always pats Thomas and Finn on the head. I think it's pretty stinkin' funny. There was a bridge up at Big Springs where the kiddos enjoyed throwing rocks into the stream.
In the afternoon we played games, had some tasty food, and lit our fireworks. Umm...was anyone else blown away at all the aerial (used to be illegal) fireworks that people had?? Ridiculous. I would never want to buy them, first, because they're so dang expensive, and second, because you can just watch everyone else's.

One of the games we played where we had to make it to the end of the yard without dropping or popping our balloons.

What awesome family traditions, gives me some ideas. Neither of our families do much so were starting our own; watched the parade, enjoyed the Colonial Days and Cries of Freedom performance, had In N Out and watched the crazy aerials. Ben bought some sparklers and poppers for Henry and while doing so watched the man infront of him at the cash register put down $700 dollars on fireworks. The bagger looked up at Ben and said "You might want to get this guys' address" lol. It was fun to see you for a bit at the park, Finn is even cuter in person.

I love all the matching shirts! And I totally agree about just watching other people's fireworks...I couldn't believe the humungous ones people were setting off around our house. Our own personal, free show. :)
