Lobstah time!

No that's not a typo. I have seen restaurants and fish markets that spell lobster, "lobstah". Quite a few Mainers actually pronounce it that way. I like it. Maybe I'll join in and start saying it that way too...

Speaking of lobstah, last Friday, one of Dennen's fellow classmates was generous enough to host a lobstah party at his place. He and his wife (and their dog) have the coolest place in the most unique location. Seriously. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Pretty huh? Anyway, cooking up lobstah (soft shell) isn't as hard as I thought it would be. All you do is boil it for 7 minutes, drain out the water, and enjoy! Dennen ate the green junk, which apparently is the liver. I dry heaved a little... Those of you that have eaten a whole lobstah probably know what I'm talking about. Dennen came up with a slang word for the green junk "guacamole".

Here are some before and after pictures of the lobstah. They turn red after you boil them. And no, they didn't scream when they got thrown into the pot. We tried to get a picture of Finn holding it because he loves them. Every time we go to a grocery store that has a lobstah tank (which is pretty much every grocery store) he does the "pinchy sign" with his hands because he wants to go see them. I told him that we were going to see lobstahs that night and he got pretty excited. He wasn't as excited when we all started ripping them apart and eating them. I wish I could have gotten a picture of his face. He was pretty traumatized. Poor kid.

It was really tasty. Also, such a good deal right now. $3.99/lb? That's crazy if you think about how much a lobstah (are you sick of me saying it this way yet?) dinner costs. We ended the night by walking down to the ocean and getting our faces bit off by bugs. Actually, just the non-swimmers got eaten alive. Oh, and Finn got high-centered in their boat. First we ate his lobstah friends, and then this. I'm sure he was just thinking "what next parents, what next?"
