The name

After much contemplation we have decided to share what we want to name our baby boy with everyone. Our reason for being tentative is not because we think someone will steal the name (who cares), but because people have preconceived notions about names. If someone doesn't really like the name they'll say something like, "oh, that's an interesting name..." or "I've never heard that name before..." It is obvious when a person doesn't like a name.

Whatever you may think about the name we have chosen is just fine. We like the name and are pretty confident that it's not some 'out there crazy name.' So here it is.

Oh, I really like it too! Unique, but not wacky. No crazy spelling. Easy to pronounce.

Perfect for you guys!

I can't wait to see you in a MONTH! My mom said your little baby bump is so cute and that my dad put his hands on it...

I think the name sounds PERFECT for your little guy. Seriously, I love it. I think it's a great name for all stages of life. It works for a darling baby, a cool, fun teenager, and for a respectable adult. Good work.

You two are SO CUTE - you have taken the razzin' well. We love you, the name, the kid, the grass you walk upon, and the footprints that you leave in the snow!

I like the name too! But I have somewhat of an out there name and I gave my daughter one too. I like unique names and names that have meaning. I'm sure your decision had much thought, like you said, so own it. I think it fits without even seeing your sweet baby.

p.s. My little girl's name is Himaya which is Glory in my mission language but the first time my dad heard what we were naming her he looked at me with a confused look on his face and said, "How about you name her Hamaya? It sounds prettier" Sorry dad. She's mine, the decision is mine and one more thing, you cannot change a word in another language, even if you think it sounds prettier another way.

I love the name, it flows really well together. I still come up with a middel name for her, but I have his full name.

You are right to be cautious in telling the name. I would have stayed Amelia if mom didn't give in to others' opinions, but nope. I like Finn.
